SL students analyse one unseen literary extract in 1 hour 15; HL students analyse two in 2 hours 15 — purely literary passages, unlike Language & Literature's mix of literary and non-literary texts. We train close reading against the same four official criteria examiners use: Understanding & Interpretation, Analysis & Evaluation, Focus & Organisation, and Language.
Criteria A–DComparative essays usually fail for one reason: the two works get discussed separately instead of together. We build essay plans that argue across both studied literary works from the first paragraph, in response to one of the four set questions.
The IO for Literature asks you to connect two literary works studied through a genuinely focused global issue, then defend that reading in follow-up questions — different from Language & Literature, which pairs a literary work with a non-literary one. We run mock orals until the follow-up discussion feels routine, not risky.
HL only. The most common failure mode is a line of inquiry that quietly turns into plot summary by the second page. We help students choose a question on their studied literary work that they can actually sustain across the full word count.

Yes. Paper 1, Paper 2, and the Individual Oral are covered at both levels, plus the HL Essay for Higher Level students, all timed to your school's assessment calendar.
Literature studies only literary texts — novels, poetry, plays. Language & Literature also studies non-literary texts, such as speeches, adverts, and media. If you're not sure which course you're enrolled in, check with your IB coordinator.
Yes. We run mock orals connecting a global issue to two literary works studied, then practice the unscripted follow-up questions, with feedback mapped to the same criteria examiners use.
